The residents of Slaithwaite near Huddersfield have come together to support others when popular neighbour Robert Coupland died
of a brain tumour in March 2007.
Robert’s loving wife Heather,
her close friend Julie Birch together with her family and friends decided that Robert’s death would not be in vain and
they collectively agreed to raise money for brain tumour research and patient support with Andrea’s Gift.
To date they have raised £3,456.64!
They have done it in a variety
of ways including a wonderful Blakestones Garden Fete (see pictures below) Heather and Julie packed bags of shopping at their
local supermarket; Robert’s sister sold tea and coffee and rented books at the Dri-N-Wash launderette, Joanne Martin
ran a 10k and collecting boxes are placed in Slaithwaite’s Hilltop Store.
They have more events planned
including a street collection in Huddersfield on Saturday 27th October to mark International Brain Tumour Awareness
month.
