The Steele family have worked long and hard to fundraise for two special charities. Andrea's
Gift and St Gemma's Hospice both provided support for the family during Scott's four year battle with a brain tumour.
The family turned out en mass to the Andrea's Gift Big Bike Ride and Walk in 2006, even Linda's
brother came along and joined her on the walk and he lives down under in Australia!
Scott was at the finish with Rocky, (his beautiful, but scary German Shepherd!) in a very wet,
cold and windy Scarborough to welcome his younger brother Craig and a group of around 10 friends and family.
Dad Billy drove a mini bus to take the riders and their bikes back to Leeds, and mum Linda and many of their family
and friends took part in the 10 mile walk from Snainton into Scarborough.
Everyone was soaked as the weather was atrocious!
Sadly Scott died aged 32 in St Gemma's Hospice in August 2006, you can read Scott's moving story
in Everyone's Gift.
The family have continued to fundraise and Craig has even thrown himself out of an aeroplane for
fun, he also did the Big Bike ride to Scarborough in 2007 and Billy and Linda took part in the Big Walk.
Scott and Craig's good friend Robert Rosenthall organised a trek over the 3 Yorkshire Peaks to raise money for four local charities, that were close to his heart.
In 2006 Robert lost two close friends to cancer, Scott was one and Paul Hunter the young talented snooker player from
Leeds was the other. 40 people joined Robert on his walk and collectively raised well over £8,000 to be shared between
Andrea’s Gift in memory of Scott, St Gemma’s Hospice, the Paul Hunter Foundation and Kirkwood hospice.
The family are so supportive of all events and sponsor and attend everything they can.
A total of £8,344.58 has been raised in Scott's memory so far.
