Medical Screening Questions

You may be asked a number of seemingly insensitive and unpleasant questions when applying for travel insurance.  Try to remember that the person asking the questions doens't have a personal issue - they are just reading a script.

Here is a list of the type of questions you may be asked to prepare you in advance.

  • Do you have a medical condition?
  • Do you have any undiagnosed symptoms?
  • What is the condition?
  • When were you diagnosed?
  • Are you waiting for or currently receiving treatment?
  • Have you been an inpatient recently?
  • When were you last seen by a consultant?
  • Was your cancer completely surgically removed?
  • What treatment did you receive, when did it finish?
  • Are you on any prescribed medications/strong painkillers?
  • Has the primary cancer spread to any other site?
  • Has it spread to more than one site?
  • Any local recurrence of disease?
  • How often do you see your doctors for review?
  • Have you been advised your condition is currently active, progressive or too far advanced for effective treatment?
  • What was/is the stage/grade of your disease?
  • Have you been given a terminal diagnosis?
